A geologist by training, Gérard Andreck joined Macif in 1969 and was elected to the Board in 1982. In 1987, when Macif was regionalised, he became head of the most important region: Ile-de-France (Paris). In June 1997, Gérard Andreck became Director General of Macif, second in command to Jean Simonnet as President. At the General Meeting of 18 June 2006, Gérard Andreck was elected President of the Macif Group.
As the architect of the modernisation of Macif, he was responsible for the motor insurance mutual becoming a true insurance group offering diverse services, while respecting the values of the mutualist project: mutuality and solidarity.
In December 2004, he was elected “Insurer of the year” by a panel of journalists from the economic sector.
Gérard Andreck played a key role in setting up the partnership between the Caisses d’Epargne, Macif and Maif in October 2004 and was appointed President of the Board of the holding company which confirmed this partnership in November 2005. He was elected President of GEMA (Groupement des Entreprises Mutuelles d’Assurances) on 1 July 2008 for a mandate of 3 years and on 9 July he was elected Vice-President of AFA, the French insurance association. He is very involved in the social economy and was President of the CJDES (Centre des Jeunes Dirigeants de l’Economie Sociale) from 1991 to 1993.
Gérard Andreck was born in Pamiers, in the Ariège region on 16 July 1944. He is married and father of three children.
